The Community School :
is responsible to community interests & needs ● utilizes cooperative delivery of services
relies on community involvement ● makes the best use of district facilities
The LO Community School is part of the LO School District; we are both a place and a set of partnerships between the school district and other community resources. The Community School has an integrated academic focus to improve student learning; schools become centers of the community. The LO Community School encourages students and community members to become more involved with their schools and their own life-long learning.
What Are The Community School Objectives?
Here at the LO Community School, our goal is to offer programs outside the classroom instruction day that support and enhance the LO School District’s curriculum. Our purpose is to provide Enrichment & Youth Sport programs that are supportive of the learning in our schools; our programs are open to all students (both inside and outside the LO School District). The Community School provides a flexible structure allowing for a variety of programs and services to be designed that best utilize the skills, talents, and abilities of the community. Below are examples of the types of programs we provide:
| Summer School Programs | Sports Camps |
| Youth Enrichment & Sports Programs | Parent & Child Partnership Learning Programs |
Who Can Teach For The Community School?
Our teachers are experts in their subject areas. A teaching license is not a requirement to teach through the Community School, however, all teachers undergo background checks and fingerprinting. If you are interested and would like to propose a class, contact Janet Nees for Enrichment Programs or Mike Coulson for Sports Programs.
